Start with a light lunch at Torches on the Hudson, complete with a 6,000-gallon aquarium and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river. Then travel to the astonishing Storm King Art Center, known for the harmonious yet dramatic interaction between its sculptures and the landscape of the Hudson Valley. Take a guided tram ride and then explore on your own the collection of modern, monumental sculptures exhibited to glorious advantage on 400 acres of terraced lawns, spacious fields and woodlands. No two visits are alike since the appearance of the sculptures is affected by changes in the light and weather. The permanent collection includes works by Calder, Moore and Noguchi. Experience an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the gardens, the LEED gold certified "green" John J. Willaman Education Center, the Jenkins homestead, and the outdoor sculpture exhibition, Wind through the Trees, including 49 auditory and/or kinetic sculptures with 65 component parts, in a 15-acre botanical setting. Enjoy the showcase garden for azaleas and rhododendrons. In May, the Arboretum is drenched with brilliant color and dappled shade during the Spring Bloom Festival. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Join us for a tour of the recently landmarked Gansevoort Market section of Greenwich Village. View the on-going transformation from Meat Market to a neighborhood of trendy restaurants, chic boutiques, art galleries and luxury housing. Sample the historic and cutting edge architecture. By bus and on foot, view buildings by Richard Meier and Frank Gehry. Stroll through the Chelsea Market, now a collection of gourmet food retailers. Lunch on your own around Sheridan Square in the West Village where you can eat and wander. End the day with a walk on the High Line, the exciting new elevated "ribbon park" along the Hudson River for expansive waterfront vistas plus great views of the neighborhood and beyond.
